I have a question about postcards where the Wayspot photo is not displayed.

Hello, I have a question about postcards where the Wayspot photo is not displayed.

As shown in the attached screenshots, I have two different types of postcards.

The first type has a completely white/blank area where the location photo should appear. This is not a temporary loading issue, as it remains blank permanently and the photo never appears.

The second type shows a default illustration with flowers and a path instead of an actual location photo.

I understand that these two cases may have different causes. My question is specifically about postcards that I have already obtained and currently have in my collection.

If the corresponding Wayspot photo is later restored, changed, or a new photo is added:

  1. Can an existing blank/white postcard later update to display the actual location photo?
  2. Can an existing postcard with the default illustration later update to display the actual location photo?
  3. Or do postcards that have already been obtained remain unchanged even if the Wayspot photo is later updated?

I would appreciate clarification on how this works for each of these two types of postcards.

Thank you.

I would also know what causes these issues, but my guesses are:

A) For the “Placeholder” photos, It was probably a wayspot that had its photo not added at all during submissions, or changed between map updates, and this was put so the picture wasn’t blank

B) for the completly blank photo; there was a map update a few months back, and that postcard was probably a place that wasn’t turned into a mushroom/big flower spot, and deleted… PB kinda shares it’s map data with Pokémon Go and other Niantic games; and shares its spots; but in Pikmin Bloom, half of them are ignored as to not over-crowd the map. IMO they are chosen at basically random.

All of the above, or probably some Wayfarer-related shenanigans happening, Photos probably being deleted or changed for others… The service is a nightmare to work with sometimes, tbh

Not an official explanation, btw. Just a educated guess.
