Lifelog Photo Seedlings

Lately no matter what I do I cannot get the lifelong photo to generate a seedling. I have tried retaking a photo multiple times while in a new place where I have never gotten one before. I have tried deleting the photo and re-uploading and positioning it carefully on the map the same say and on a later date. Every once in a while I generate a roadside doing this, but who needs those anyways? This feature is so broken I don’t even see the point of trying anymore.

I don’t have any problems with this  I’m not sure if there are any step requirements for a lifelog photo seedling maybe? :man_shrugging:t2:

The specifications of the LifeLog are not clearly defined, but to the best of my knowledge, there are two main points:

  1. Seedlings will only appear in the LifeLog within a 10km radius of your current location. However, there is no distance limit for locations you have actually visited that day.
  2. If you have Pikmin or seedlings at the location shown in the LifeLog photo, or if you have uncollected expedition (seedlings or fruit), seedlings will not appear.

Lifelog photos don’t generate seedlings, they attach to generated seedlings. To generate seedlings use a detector or plant flowers. If you are using detectors or planting flowers where only roadside is available, that is the seedling that will generate. I mean I’m not totally sure about this, but I have never had a seedling appear after doing my daily lookback. The photos always attach to seedlings or Pikmin already found that day.

That’s incorrect.

Lifelog photo generates a seedling.

When you attach a photo with location information to your lifelog, you’ll see seedlings appear at that location.
You can get two free seedlings with the free detector and lifelog photos. This will help you acquire rare decor more quickly.

If it were the case lifelog photos generate seedlings I think you would be able to confirm this in the Help center. I don’t see anything like that though. Maybe you’re mistaking this point:

  • Seedlings are not always found immediately in the area where you have walked, but sometimes found after a while.

You think it’s a lifelog photo generating a seedling, but it’s just appearing after a while. Like I said tho, this is my experience. If a lifelog photo can generate a seedling I’ve never seen this happen that I’m aware of.

Edit: I was wrong about one thing, it looks like you don’t need to plant flowers to generate seedlings. You can get them just by walking. I do think planting might increase the chances of finding a seedling tho.

I get one seedling every day by attaching a photo to the lifelog and it appears immediately.

The feature of generating seedlings by attaching photos to your lifelog has been implemented since the game’s release. Initially, there was no distance limit, so you could attach photos to places overseas you’d never even been to, but the current distance limit was later implemented.

Right now, it’s 8 AM and I haven’t left my home at all, but I obtained a seedling for the park by attaching a photo to it. I’m almost done collecting all the rare park decorations!

Unfortunately, the information in the help center isn’t everything about this game. I think there are still many things that you and I don’t know or are unclear about.

Oh so it’s like a dishonest hack thing, cool.

I wouldn’t say it’s dishonest it’s just a thing you can do you know? And to get a specific seedling from a photo location you’ve had to have been there to get the photo anyway.

Obtaining seedlings through lifelog is a technique worth utilizing, as it allows you to acquire seedlings of your desired category for free if used effectively.

I’m using it to complete my collection of rare decor now, but it’s also effective for obtaining the last type of location decor. Once you’ve visited the location and taken a photo, you can obtain the seedling without going there.

I always use screenshots without location data to drop pins at my preferred spots within a 10 km radius to collect seedlings. This leverages a standard feature in Pikmin Bloom.

However, even when meeting the following conditions :

  • Within a 10 km radius
  • Only once per day
  • Empty cells
  • Not allowed between 0:00 AM and 0: 30 A M?

It seems that, as Garflax mentioned, there are cells where seedlings just won’t spawn no matter how many times you try. I don’t know the exact reason, but in those cases, I just give up.

No- I don’t think so. My understanding (back when it used to work for me) was that the game designers made it to incentivize exploration by getting a seedling for taking a daily photo in the game. It was fun to take a picture in a new place I visited and not only see it later in my Lifelog, but also receive a Pikmin with the photo attached. Like a little souvenir.

So does anyone use the photo placing method to get seedlings other than roadside? I think that’s what @Garflax is asking, right? It sounds kind of like an exploit so maybe a high return of roadside seedlings is like a deterrent for generating seedlings this way.

When I’m in a spot where there’s a type of decor I want I snap a picture and hope to get it. Sometimes I go back back and attach the same picture another day, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.. at least that’s how I understand to use it and I’ve gotten plenty of (different) decor pikmins this way.

It doesn’t feel like cheating :man_shrugging:t2:

I forgot about this feature. I have a duplicate pikmin that I couldn’t bear to release because it had a nice picture from my visit to Ueno Park in Japan.

That’s another way the game gets you to use up your storage.

I’m going to have to remember to try this out at a park to get an extra attempt at getting that elusive 4-leaf clover ice pikmin that hides from me every time I’m in range.

@KippyPippy I’m also desperately looking for the four leaf ice pikmin.. but at least I’m getting closer to completing the Park category while doing so
