Mushroom Scarcity and Player Retention Issues in Taiwan

Hello, I am a player from Taiwan. I am writing to bring your attention to an increasingly serious issue within the Taiwanese Pikmin Bloom community that is significantly impacting our motivation to continue playing.

While it is wonderful to see the game’s popularity rising in Taiwan, the resulting “Mushroom Scarcity” has left many players feeling discouraged. Based on community feedback, we have identified the following core issues:

  • Intense Competition in Urban Areas: In densely populated cities, the three free daily Mushroom Challenges are filled almost instantly. Many players report being unable to join even a single mushroom battle all day. For players who rely on these daily challenges as their primary source of resources, being unable to participate means their game progress comes to a complete standstill.

  • Resource Imbalance Due to Urban-Rural Disparity: Taiwan has a significant gap in population distribution. While rural areas have many available mushrooms, there are very few active players there. Conversely, urban areas are overflowing with players, but the supply of mushrooms is nowhere near enough to meet demand. Although we can join remote battles via friend invitations, this does not solve the fundamental frustration of the daily local gameplay experience.

  • A Growing Wave of Player Resignation: Recently, on Facebook groups and local forums in Taiwan, more and more players have expressed their intent to quit the game—and frankly, I have begun to feel the same way. When the most core daily task of a game becomes nearly impossible to achieve, the relaxation and fun turn into a source of stress.
