Hi, For the second month in a row I’m stuck at the montly red flower. I have plenty to move on after this one flower type but, wondering if there is a trick or tip to getting these flowers. I generally walk 3-5 miles every morning and actively do mushrooms every day including normal red shrooms but am stuck once again this month on the red flower. I’ve tried walking by big flowers in hopes of planting my minimal red genetians to sport the the big flower but that also hasn’t worked.
As already written, the main principle is “give extract to bud pikmin to get more petals”. The bud pikmin will become buds after roughly 6 to 7 hours from the leaf state, and there is also a hand to give one white extract to the leaf pikmin.
Also, as far as the flower of the month is concerned, it can be obtained through the Weekly Challenge, so let’s plant 30,000 flower petals with our friends every week.
More to the point, there is a means to plant more with the smallest number of petals: shorten the planting time, move on and plant again.
So when they are in the little ball state that is the best time to give them the correct flower to get more petals versus when they are in the leaf state or already have a flower?
Got it… seems like a 2:1 ratio on the bud vs. 1:1 ratio if leaf or flower.
This game is very greedy, they want you to pay. I will say it can be easier if you stick with it. I am in good shape with gentians because I saved mine from last year. So for instance it’s likely there will be a new flower next October and dahlias will be the other flower you will need. I know it’s annoying to get stuck, but even if you power through the stages you are probably not that likely to get all the decor. It’s frustrating, but I think it’s a lot more fun to just get what you can and not worry about completing collections unless you are willing to spend money. Good luck!
Also, I’m greedy! I plant 1 petal every 5 minutes to maximize the number of flowers I plant for challenges
Old players can have the flower, but new players doesnt have a good method outside of RNG or pay for petals.
Until June 2024 the forecast was good for players, in the 6 flowers players have the 2nd flower of the next month, not anymore.
If they do that, players can obtain nectar for the tasks, because there are 40 days to obtain nectar (30 from the previous month and 10+ until hit the stage 3) not like now that only have the RNG from 10 days (or buying petals) to obtain the 2nd flower.
The flower of the month have posibilities: weekly planting challenge since the first monday and community day. With that petals can start planting, the 2nd flower doesnt have any of these on the last months.
I think the problem for new users is that they cannot get the petals they need to progress through the stages.
For example, in the case of this month, dahlias are relatively easy to get, but it is difficult to get gentians if they are not blooming in the neighborhood (although it is said that they may come from mushrooms, it would be difficult to get the required number in the first half of the month).
On the other hand, existing continuing players have gentian stock from last year, but they do not plant gentians on a daily basis; they basically plant dahlias, which I believe makes it difficult to get gentians from the city.
For example, I think it would make the next month’s play smoother if there were chrysanthemums (which are needed in November) on the list of potential flowers from the October mushrooms.
They do that change and later (in july 2024) they do another change for bringing the useless 2022 flower instead of the 2023 one.
The 2023 one it’s the 2nd flower for all 2024 events.
Edit: I was hoping another change the past months, but until December forecast in News we cant know if they return to giving the helpful flower to easy the tasks for new players
In November it’s anniversary, there is no 2023 flower and I understand perfectly: new players need the flower of the past 6 months to obtain the badges, it’s the better for them.
What is the point of the basic nectars? White puts pikmin from leaf to the little bulb that when you plant on top of do the 2:1 ratio for flowers but, I’ve tried red nectar and then planting a red special flower on it and the ratio is still 1:1. So what are the yellow/red/blue nectar good for outside of having some base petals to plant every day?
This is better in another post, but I answer a little here.
Plant to earn coins and have luck of bloom seasonal flower in big flowers, sometimes it bloom as 1st or 2nd flowers for the tasks.
And blue, even basic nectar, I treat them as seasonal nectar (giving to bud pikmin like it is a rare finding), they are the most annoying fruit (even white it’s more easy to obtain somehow)
One other question… Do these mean that it is better to not just walk and plant the event flower flat out but rather stagger them so you plant a couple then switch petals you are planting and then switch back?
After you plant there is a cooldown of 5 minutes until you can plant again in the same place, knowing that some players use his method.
His method (Im going to call it start-stop) it’s plant a unique petal, that gives the initial amount of flowers in that place (30 with 40 pikmin in squad) after that single petal, stop the plantation.
Repeat that after 5 minutes (plant a single petal and stop), until the flower bloom.
Can be good if you stay in the same position, because a big flower only cost 10 petals or so, but bad for coins.
I usually dont use that, there are other methods like bike, electrical scooter, someone use a 5 minutes routte of big flowers, etc and plant while moving, but depends on your routtine, sometimes start-stop it’s good.
Either way, if you plant at least 160+ event flower (either with start-stop 5-6 times or walking) and the rest basic petals, usually they bring that event flower.
Once the event flower it’s fixed, you can select the color by planting some basic petals in red, yellow or blue colors.
Ex. If you use 100 yellow dahlia, 60 white dahlia and the rest red basic petals, the flower usually bloom in red dahlia.
I only walk around 2 miles a day, sometimes longer on the weekends and manage to get by without having to spend tokens on petals. @nbxfan, when you eventually level up and go out with a full squad, you should be able to gather a lot of nectar, seedlings, tokens, and get past stage 6 over time with the amount of mileage you are putting in.
My usual route encounters 4 flowers which are often already in the blooming state. These flowers plus mushroom, mission, and weekly rewards are somehow enough to keep me covered. I give priority to giant and mystery mushrooms.
Just be sure to follow the advice for feeding your pikmin to get the 2:1 return. And do the weekly challenges and mystery mushroom battles.
Using the start-stop method I know exactly how many petals I need. So you’re probably talking about the step to plant 1,500 red gentians. Essentially all you need is 25 red gentian nectar. Give that to Pikmin in the bud state for 50 petals. Plant every 5 minutes for 30 flowers planted if you have the max squad size of 40. It is time consuming, you have to do that 50 times (it would take about 5 hours). Generally you are also attacking mushrooms for the challenge which takes time too. I can usually get to the planting goal before the mushroom task is completed. It’s just a good option if you have limited petals. I don’t know how many flowers 50 petals equals when walking, I’m pretty sure it’s nowhere near 1,500 though. Maybe 250-500?
I was probably playing for close a year before I found out about the double nectar . Unfortunately, I missed out on completing several missions to get all the costume prizes such as last year’s Halloween accessories .
