After receiving a postcard from another player, the postcard tip will appear, saying “this pikmin has a postcard for you”. All attempts to interact with the app afterwards fail, including trying to progress through or close the tip. The tip goes away when the app is closed and reopened, and the app returns to normal operation.
The bug occurs with unknown circumstances, sometimes not happening after receiving a postcard. It seems unrelated to whether or not the postcard image has loaded.
I will update again if I narrow down what is/isn’t the trigger or with recordings of instances that can also be used to try to narrow it down.

Been getting the same error almost every day! Very annoying…
I’ve been having the same problem! I contacted support in the app using the support chat, but was only told they would report it but not actually reply to me.
It’s been really annoying, especially since I’ve been getting more postcards now that I unlocked mushroom battles.

Then the game just freezes.
