I’ve always found mushrooms as strange aspect of the game, as every other system of the game revolves around walking and yet the mushrooms doesn’t require a single step from the player.
This gets worsens as the monthly event missions require very large amount of mushroom trials in total, clearly using them as a controller to prevent players from achieving missions so fast.
Basically current monthly event progressions are like this…
- Event Mushrooms → Event Missions → Event Pikmins → Event Mushrooms
- Event Mushroom → Event Currency → Event Wearables
And it feels like the core of this game, walking, is left out in this reward system. This feels so wrong, and players feel like they are forced to pay for mushroom tickets, not in joyful way at all.

I like mushroom battles, they’re probably my favorite part of the game. I think it’s annoying when event stages require you to get steps. Planting flowers is the mechanism that’s supposed to drive you to get steps. You also have the opportunity to bloom big flowers as an incentive for walking/planting. I think mushrooms are the best way to get more nectar and I like collecting postcard from all over. You also say it requires a large amount of mushrooms for events, but the most per stage is 5. That would only take 2 days if you don’t use tickets, that doesn’t seem unreasonable. I don’t play Pokémon go, but isn’t this like Pokémon battles? They don’t involve getting steps I don’t think.
Fully agreed. Event mushrooms suck and mushroom gates prevent us from going out and walking around. It would be nicer if all mushrooms counted and we can just focus on the color we want.
