I have noticed last couple of months that it seems harder to grow white than even blue event flowers. Today I was walking the white Bougainvilleas challenge, plant 1500 of them. I had three empty sapplings all at 300 and, planted nothing but white Bougainvilleas but grew two red and one yellow.
I noticed this last month as well. Red used to be the pain point. Sometimes blue, but now its getting white. Is it just me or did something in game change? I thought rarity was White > Yellow > Red > Blue now Yellow and Red seem more common place.

I am in the exact same boat, stuck on white Bougainvilleas for a few days now. The few I got from mushrooms, I planted with some regular white petals and turned red. Same thing happened today, planted only regular white petals whit about 20 yellow bougainvilleas and got a RED Celosia. I started to wonder if there is a glitch happening, so I contacted the Support, and they basically told me it just isn’t guaranteed to get the same colour.
Either way, glad I am not the only one experiencing this
I get if you are planting multiple nectar types that you could end up with a random flower but, if you plant solely one type of nectar, you should be growing that flower. I finished up Red Clelosia and Yellow Bougainvillea today, followed the same thing I did before. Planted 300 of each nectar and had no issue getting exactly what I expected. Doesn’t work for white. No idea why.
Hi, if you are also experiencing this issue, can people please report in app and, I just created a bug report. I went through the plant 2000 White Celosia this morning. On five sapplings that had no other nectar I planted 300 white Celosia on each of them and ended up with 4 reds and 1 yellow Celosia. Even if it were “random” you would expect at least one of them to be white. Something is wrong. More people that report it, the more chance it will be taken seriously.
It’s a relief to see someone raise this issue! I’ve been playing Pikmin Bloom since launch while also being active in various player group chats (small informal ones). For many years now, myself and other have noted the frustrating sensitivity of pristine, untouched, “300 more flowers to bloom” leaves to nearby planted flowers that are outside of the leaf’s radius ring. It feels totally illogical that a white rare flower would be the hardest color to bloom. Worst of all, it puts players who joined the game later on at a significant disadvantage for the event challenge tasks.
I also wanted to mention there’s always been like an estimated 5% chance programmed into the game code that your Big Flower will be “upgraded” and bloom into one of the monthly forecasted flowers when you plant around it. (For example, the forecast for Sept ‘25 includes: Celosía, Bougainvillea, Spider Lily, Dianthus, Hibiscus, or Morning Glory. So, there’s a small chance your Big Flower could be randomly “upgraded” to bloom into any of these.)
Update:
There is absolutely something wrong. I just got back from planting 300 WHITE bourgainvilleas around a fresh green plant that still needed all 300 flowers to bloom, and it bloomed into a BLUE Bourgainvillea.
It’s late at night, I can guarantee no one else was around to ruin it. I have no been stuck at this stupid event challenge all week because it’s impossible to get the white bourgainvilleas. I completely depend on getting them from mushrooms, and I don’t get any most of the time.
Frustration is an understatement.
Thank you. I am the same. I walk early in the morning and am lucky enough to be innundated by big flower spots that are almost always empty. Nobody is planting around me.
Also hopefully the compensation nectar helps you finish. They apparently had outage problems a couple of days ago.
Thanks for writing back. We completely understand your sentiment regarding this matter.
Upon checking with the team there’s no ongoing issue regarding this matter so to help us investigate and forward details to the appropriate team, please provide us with the following:
Screenshot from your Lifelog showing the number of petals you planted. Go to Lifelog > select the date > scroll down and select the icon with flowers (usually a bouquet or a flower basket).
Approximate date and time you encountered this issue
Does it happen to any specific type of White petals or all White petals
Your device make and model
Screen recording when you plant flowers on the said area but it bloomed to a different type of flower
We’re hoping to hear from you soon! If you have other questions in the meantime, please let us know.
I was going to say I got the standard response last night. It then said, was this answer helpful and I said no. And I rewrote more explanation and this morning got the same response as you did. So I sent them pictures of my history, and hoping for some better answer.
But this may be helpful to others. Say no when you get the formulaic response.
This game always seems to prioritize the new flower of the month and the flower that was the flower of the month the previous year always seems difficult to obtain. So basically make sure you save your celosias because you will need them September next year. It would be so much better if flower planting challenges allowed you to use different types of flowers, not just limiting it to certain flowers that can be difficult to obtain. It’s also unfortunate that petals are so expensive. I don’t know about you but it would take me about 5 days to save up 300 coins. And then do I really want to spend that on petals? No!
Yeah, agree. I only made it through because I had a ton of last years flower left over. That’s why I would like to be able to stock pile white for next year. But can’t grow them. They won’t show up.
I’m on my second play through this month, up to stage 6. I have yet to grow a single white event flower. Doesn’t matter what I try. I can’t grow them. Very frustrating.
Holding my own conversation at this point… Spotted for the first time in the wild a white event flower. I didn’t grow it but, was able to grab nectar from it. Eighteen days into the month and finally one appeared.
I was able to grow 1 white celosia on community day last week. I made 6 big flowers bloom into Celosia with regular white petals, 1 white, 2 red and 3 yellow. I later did a second round with regular blue petals instead and got 6 blue celosia.
I been getting alot more white nectars from the event mushrooms since, so I think I am set now, managed to complete the challenges etc.
I gave up trying to make the big plants grow into white flowers, it just isn’t possible unless you get some crazy luck.
Just sad Niantic isn’t acknowledging it.
